Look Like a Fashionista When You Travel

Which girl doesn’t like to wear trendy and latest fashion? But when we travel, we try to avoid fashion to ensure our comfort and lose the heavy weight bags. This way we end up wearing same old t-shirts, jeans, track pants, one pair (mostly none) earrings and sport shoes. But what if I tell you that there are ways in which you can be trendy, look beautiful for those selfies and carry it all light weight back pack for the travel.

What is your Destination?

Always pack according to your destination. If you are going to a hill station, pack one sweater and more scarfs; if you are going to a beach, pack a pair of flip-flops with charmed anklets to get that sand foot selfy; if you are heading for the mountains, get long sized chex shirt and a multi-pocket jacket to go along with it.

Scarfs, a pair of sun glasses, a high bun, a fish tail braid, bracelet charms are the things which will suit any destination, any look and are very light weight.

Dress as the locals do…

In India, you can’t wear short or t-backs or sleeveless tops at every destination you visit. Indians don’t like much of a skin show and while traveling even you should avoid it. (I know girls should wear whatever they desire, but sometimes we have to keep our desires aside if we want to enjoy our trip instead of fighting the on lookers).

In many parts of India (specially Pune) girls tie their scarfs like this to protect their beautiful faces from dust, heat and pollution!

When you visit a destination, you tend to shop local products. When you buy some local jewelry or a piece of cloth, make sure you wear it in your trip. It will give your picture album a different look and also it’ll bring you closer to the local environment.

The comfort level

We travel to relax our mind and soul, to enjoy the surrounding and nature. While traveling we make sure that our food and stay is comfortable. But many times we tend to ignore our clothing. Dress as casual as you can. Your regular Sunday brunch look or movie date look is the most comfortable look which you should carry when you travel.

When I was travelling to Ajintha-Ellora caves, I preferred a lose kurta-legin look instead of a jeans and t-shirt along with shoes instead of flip-flops or fancy chappals.

Take out those summer dresses, comfy pants even your gym t-shirts, lose kurtas and sneakers to get that comfort while traveling.

The accessories

Every girl has a big box of accessories in her closet which includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, head-bands, rings and much more. But we never carry the accessories while traveling, except we have to attend a social gathering. We always think that we might misplace our favorite jewelry pieces while traveling or it will be difficult to travel with taking care of those accessories on your body. But while traveling you don’t have to carry your whole box. Match the accessory pieces with the clothes you are packing, box up some travel themed weight less jewelry, avoid long neck pieces and stoned rings.

Experience Vincent Van Gogh in Cinema and VR

Today I had the pleasure of knowing Vincent Van Gogh’s story on silver screen, roaming through Van Gogh’s painting and experience his characters and colours from a distance of a blink that too under one roof.

Yes you read it right. The ‘Van Gogh Art in Cinema and VR’ gave me such an incredible opportunity. The screening and VR session was organized by the Enghliten VR team at Bombay Art Society, Bandra.

Vincent Van Gogh

The movie:

Lust of Life (1956) directed by Vincent Minnelli was screened at the event. The movie tells the life story of Van Gogh. His madness, his loneliness, his obsession with golden yellow, his travels, his friends and family. After watching the movie, I strongly felt that to make some insane work you have to be a little insane.

The VR:

I just don’t have words to explain how I felt (and still having the same feeling) after watching Van Gogh’s finest work in VR. I literally walked through the rooms of his painting, felt his subjects moving around me (thanks to the 3D effect in VR), my ears felt the tunes Van Gogh’s musicians were playing in that painting. We see in many movies that a real life character goes into a painting and experience the adventures within the wooden frame on that canvas. This was exactly the same.

I have experienced the VR technology twice before but today it was a totally new experience.

The Starry Night
The Night Cafe

The Enlighten team is having some more VR session in coming week. I am giving the Facebook link to the event.

The Half Told Stories of FRIENDS: The Anthem

The Friends fan love the series title track more than any other song in the world. It won’t be an exaggeration if I say that ‘I’ll be there for you’ is an anthem of friendship. It brings a smile to the faces of Friends fans and makes them nostalgic instantly. Many of us don’t know that the song we see in each episode with the couch in front of the fountain is only half of the original track.

The song we see in each episode is a 46 seconds track but the original song is a 3 minute track. The video of the original track was out in 1995. We can see the friends cast dancing, singing, jumping and playing the song along with the The Renbrandts.

And the regular one:

The Half Told Stories of FRIENDS: Monica’s Sex Lesson

Episode Title: The One With Phoebe’s Uterus

Season 4 episode 11

In this episode Chandler goes to Monica and Rachel to ask for help with Katy. He wants to have the perfect sex with her and wants to be better than Joey (as Katy was Joey’s ex-girlfriend). He can’t compete with Joey’s skills on his own so Monica and Rachel decide to help him. Monica draws a picture on a paper and tells Chandler about the 7 sensual parts in woman’s body. She mixes those numbers and tells Chandler the numeric path of these 7 points. We all loved how Chandler and Rachel reacted to Monica’s orgasms when she recites those numbers. But we always wonder how the picture really was as the directors didn’t even give the glimpse of it.

So here is the picture and the numeric flow to it:

Go for a 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 3, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, a 2, 4, 6, 2, 4, 6, 4, 2, 2, 4, 7, 5, 7, 6, 7, 7, 7….and finish! Woohoo!

The Half Told Stories of FRIENDS: Joey’s Dramatic Reading

Episode title: The One With The Cake

Season 10 episode 4

We all remember what happened on Emma’s first birthday party. Everyone was leaving and it was a total chaos. But at the end everything got better and Emma had her weird cake with her parents and their crazy friends. Everyone got gifts for Emma that evening except Joey. So Joey decides to do a dramatic reading on the spot from one of Emma’s book. In the episode, Joey jumps from first page to the last page of the book. I always wondered what happened in between those pages that made everyone so emotional. But then my mystery was solved when I accidentally laid my hands on the book! I was so happy and so excited that I read that small book immediately, keeping aside all my important work. When I finished it, I felt my eyes going wet. It was worth a read.

So here I am sharing the images from the book telling what happened inside:

The Half Told Stories of FRIENDS: The Ugly Naked Guy

Appeared in:

The One With The Giant Poking Device (Season 3; Episode 8)

The One Where Everybody Finds Out (Season 5; Episode 14)

‘The Ugly Naked Guy’ from Friends is the person  who likes to live naked. He lives across Monica’s apartment building and the friends watch him roam, eat, sleep and hangout naked in his apartment. He appears time to time in initial seasons until Ross gets his apartment. Unfortunately the directors never showed us his face. We always got to see his half-naked body (obviously). The producers didn’t even credit him in the initial or last credit list. I always wanted to put a face on the name ‘The Ugly Naked Guy’. When I asked Google to help me, an article popped up regarding the same.

Todd Van Luling wrote an article in ‘The Huffington Post’ and shared his year long struggle to put a face on the name of ‘The Ugly Naked Guy.’ Thanks to him, I got my answer and now it’s my turn to share the information.

The person who played the role of ‘The Ugly Naked Guy’ is Jon Haugen. He was cast as a junior artist on 11th hour so no one remembered him. In his interview Jon stated that “it was the best time of his life.”

The Half Told Stories of FRIENDS: The Europe Story

Episode Title: The One With The Video Tape

Season 8 Episode 4

In this episode Joey tells Ross his famous and made up ‘Europe Story’ to get laid. We all know what happens next. But what we don’t know is the whole ‘Europe Story’. In the episode Joey starts the story ‘Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent. Gorgeous. And across the lake I saw, a beautiful woman, bathing herself. But she was crying…’ and then the directors jump to the scene of Ross’s boring date. We never get to hear the rest of the story.

So here I got you the complete ‘Europe Story’:

Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent. Gorgeous. And across the lake I saw, a beautiful woman, bathing herself. but she was crying…
I hesitated, watching, struck by her beauty. And also by how her presence; the delicate curve of her back, the dark sweep of her hair, the graceful length of her limbs, even her tears, added to the majesty of my surroundings. I felt my own tears burning behind my eyes, not in sympathy, but in appreciation of such a perfect moment.
She spied me before I could compose myself. But she didn’t cry out. Instead our eyes held and she smiled, enigmatically, fresh tears still spilling down her cheeks. I was frozen. I knew nothing about this woman, and yet, as we stood on opposite sides of a pool of water, thousands of miles from my own home and everyone I had ever known, I felt the most intense connection. Not just to her, but to the earth, the sky, the water between us. And also to the entirety of mankind. As if she symbolized thousands of years of the human condition.
I wanted to go to her, to comfort her, to probe this feeling of belonging I had never encountered before. But I couldn’t. Because I knew that if I spoke, if she spoke, that moment would be ruined. And I knew I would need the memory of that moment to carry me through the inevitable dark patches throughout my life.
And so I watched her lower her hand, turn, and slowly walk to the shore opposite me. The rest of her perfect form was gradually revealed to me, and I held my breath as I watched her disappear behind a copse of trees near the water.
I didn’t follow her, in fact I turned around. I knew there was nothing else we could experience together that would be more perfect than that moment…and it still remains the most profound experience of my life.

5 Tattoos For The Writer’s Soul

Everyone now a days wants to get inked. While some of us know exactly what they want, many spend hours thinking about the perfect design. A tattoo is something which stays with you life long. It’s a commitment far stronger and bigger than any relationship. People in our lives come and go but the ink on our body never leaves us. It supports, encourages, it never let you give up. That’s why instead of carving your own or your loved ones’ names, one should carve their real instincts. For a writer, there are many symbols, famous quotes and names available to ink on your body. But I have found these perfect pieces I believe every writer (who wants to get inked) should try.

  1. The ink and quill

2. The pencil

3. To get inspired

4. For the twists and turns

5. Because there is a lot to say post ‘Happily ever after’….

I an getting one of these soon. Which one are you getting? or all of them??
